in the last job interview, Valve (Steam) CEO Gabe Newell spoke about a possible competitor of PC Game Pass on Steam. Indeed, the promising Steam Deck is coming soon. This portable console would be wonderful with a subscription video game offering. However, Gabe Newell refuted the information and went further by announcing the possibility of helping Microsoft bring PC Game Pass directly to Steam.
I do not think so [équivalent de Game Pass soit] something we think we should do ourselves by building a subscription service for now. But it’s clearly a popular option for their customers, and we’d love to work with them to implement it on Steam.

Gabe Newell is set to integrate PC Game Pass on Steam
Aside from not wanting to develop any kind of Steam Game Pass, Valve’s CEO is keen to integrate Microsoft’s essential service directly onto Steam. This allowed subscribers to download their games straight to the most popular PC launcher. In addition, some players balk at the idea of opening many launchers and like it when everything is on Steam. It should also not be forgotten that the PC Game Pass application is not the most ergonomic on the market.
Adding access through Steam should prove to be of great help. Valve’s infrastructure is powerful. When Game Pass finally arrives on Steam, it also means it’s no longer exclusive to Windows 10 and 11.
Nothing has been confirmed at the moment, but we’re happy to learn that Valve and Microsoft are discussing this topic for the benefit of players.
