Gal Gun returns, the remake of the Japanese rail shooter by Inti Creates, has just been canceled for Xbox One. The game was originally planned in a dematerialized version on the Microsoft console. The developers justify this choice by stating that it is not possible to ensure the overall consistency of the game on this medium.
The decision follows an exchange with the Redmond company. The studio issued a press release clarifying the information:
As a remaster of the original Gal GunWe wanted to try to stay true to the spirit of the first episode of the series Gal GunAlthough development of the Xbox version has been completed and the game will be reviewed prior to release, after a discussion with Microsoft it seems clear that we will not be able to ensure the consistency of the experience across all platforms.
That’s why we decided to focus on the Nintendo Switch and PC versions for the future version of Gal Gun returns
.
Inti Creates also apologizes to everyone who wanted to discover or immerse themselves in the world of their rail shooter on Xbox One. The game is now expected on February 12, 2021 in the west on Switch and PC (via Steam). If you’re not familiar with this license and want to know what it’s about, we’re leaving you with the original announcement trailer for this remake.
