Hitman 3 is at a point after just a week, according to CEO Hakan Abrak, where the game is proving profitable.
It’s been just a week since Hitman 3 saw the light of day. IO Interactive presented its new stealth title to critical applause. The successor has already achieved higher sales than its predecessor Hitman 2 and thus placed itself in the top charts of the British retail trade.
CEO Hakan Abrak spoke with us GamesIndustry.biz that the project costs are amortized in less than a week and the game is already profitable.
Abrak stated, “We are very happy with this trip. It was a message of love between our fans and everything in the studio. As a developer and publisher, we are very proud that Hitman 3 is already economical. We have already recovered the total costs of this large project within a week. That puts us in a real starting position and enables us to confidently push ahead with our ambitious plans for future projects. “
This success is particularly noteworthy when you consider that IO Interactive published Hitman 3 independently. The first title was still published by Square Enix at the time. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment then took over the sequel. Abrak added that this concept helped bring about a title that fans would love.
“We were able to create a game that our fans will love and bring it to them in a direct way. This focus ensured that we could all hold on to it and believe it. Everyone in the studio stands behind the vision for the game and knows the Hitman universe better than anyone. “
“This combination makes us very effective as publishers as our creative minds have been able to work closely with publishing and marketing. We need this kind of cooperation because everyone wants to deliver a quality product. “
“We demand from each other that our games are handcrafted, meticulously detailed, and unique. At this point, we would be doing our community a disservice if we delivered less than that. Our fans are used to high standards for unique moments and quality. We always keep this focus in mind, not only for the Hitman series, but also for our future projects. “
Hitman 3 (tested here) is currently available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, Nintendo Switch (Cloud), Google Stadia and PC.
After completing the Hitman trilogy, IO Interactive is looking forward to a new chapter in its development. The next title – Project 007, which is based on the agent James Bond, is the next big work which is in development. The official platforms have not yet been announced. Abrak said at the end: “He could easily imagine a trilogy.” A ray tracing update for Xbox Series X | S for Hitman 3 is also in the works.
