This Monday Game Pass, we offer you a puzzle game different from usual. We are talking about Gorogoa. The game was developed by jason robert and came out of the hand of Annapurna Interactive. You have it available on Xbox Game Pass since January 4th. We are facing a title that stands out for its graphic art and the layout of the puzzles on the screen. As we progress through its puzzles, we will discover a beautiful background story. But we will talk about some characteristic aspects of the game.
life seen through art
The mechanics of Gorogoa they are quite simple. We are presented with a four-box grid. Each of them has a different image. By moving these models to different frames, we will unravel the story. We will also have the possibility to zoom in or zoom out the scene observed in each box, in order to appear in a completely different scene. Another of the options available are the arrows, left and right, to move around the scene in which we are. With these simple steps we will have to facilitate the path of our protagonist, a boy in search of the five colored fruits. By assembling the different pieces together, our character will automatically advance through the scenes and interact with its environment while we solve the puzzles along the way.
Puzzles that we will find in Gorogoa and its difficulty
These puzzles that appear along the way have a progressive difficulty. At the start of the game, they try to show us the different movements that we must perform, either from the frames or inside the scenes, to check the effect they have on our protagonist or his environment. It will be very easy to know what we have to do on our way. However, at a certain point in the game, certain scenes appear in which the puzzles will require a long time to find the key. Different parts of the grid will have an effect on others if we make a change or move, having to think about what we need in one part to cause a new effect in another.
For the most impatient players, you can find in Gorogoa a problem. I think it’s a game to be enjoyed bit by bit, based on trial and error. It’s in this added difficulty that its main appeal is, because otherwise it would feel more like a graphic adventure than a puzzle game. The variety in the puzzles is decent considering the short duration of the game. Scene changes bring up new situations with different resolutions, which is appreciated to avoid monotony.
Graphic, artistic and musical section
Graphically it is very beautiful and attractive. Made with hand drawings, scenes sometimes baroque and full of detail, colorful and exquisite taste. A step up in artistic quality can be seen from the demo released in 2012 which is also available to play after the main story is completed. Being an illustrated puzzle, its graphic and artistic section responds correctly to the needs that any player could require.
With regard to its musical section, it is the responsibility of the composer Joel Corelitz. Its soundtrack is pleasant, accompanying all the scenes through which we will advance in history. The moments when we find the key in one of the puzzles and there is a change of environment or scene, are accompanied by pleasant music and which really makes us feel that we are on the right track. As it is an interactive puzzle game, its artistic section is the most important, having a soundtrack that, although pleasant, plays a more discreet role and sometimes goes unnoticed.
Final conclusions and personal opinion
Gorogoa It is presented to us as a game without too many pretensions. The length of the game can be a positive handicap for players who do not want to spend many hours playing games of this style. In my case, it took me 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete all the chapters and the 2012 demo. The estimated duration for all types of players would vary from 2 to 4 hours depending on its developer. Another attraction of this game is the possibility of winning 1000G in a very short time.
For players accustomed to games of this style, Gorogoa It won’t be more difficult for them when it comes to advancing the story. However, for those who are not so used to it, some puzzles can be an obstacle and thus cause them to give up their efforts.
For our part, we advise you to try it, thanks to the possibilities of the Xbox Game Pass. We also invite you to keep checking our Xbox Area website, to be up to date with all the latest news, analysis and articles related to the world of Xbox.
