It’s annoying when older games can no longer be played, but at least in the United Kingdom the power has now been given.
With the campaign Stop killing games
The UK government has since commented on this campaign and said that users should be aware that software companies and providers in the UK are not required to provide older versions of operating systems, software and related products support.
It is quite possible that companies, for commercial reasons, decide, for example, to discontinue old servers for video games whose community is decreasing, given the enormous costs.
However, the Department of Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS for short) also pointed out that companies operating in the United Kingdom are still required to comply with the law. For example, you shouldn’t get the impression that a video game can be played indefinitely.
