One more week we return with a new chapter of games that are announced and you probably don’t remember them. We have already thought about titles like Wonder Woman, the new IO Interactive project or the game starring Captain America and Black Panther and today it is the turn of one of those games that are in the forgotten drawer, because we don’t even have a short teaser.
Maybe it’s cheating to play a game like Mafia IV, since, as we mentioned, it doesn’t even have an official image. But the reality is that it has been officially announced and its development continues to progress.
Mafia IV could tell the origin of Don Salieri
The game was officially announced in 2022 via a publication of (at the time still Twitter) where 2K confirmed the development of a new Mafia opus. A title which did not receive a 4 during the announcement, but which would be the fourth game in the saga. Additionally, according to later leaks, There would be a prequel story to the first game, where we would see the beginnings of Don Salieri. Thus, the game would take place in Sicily, in Italy, where we would see the rise of this mafia leader.
On the other hand, recent job offers have confirmed that the title It is developed under Unreal Engine 5,
As for multiplayer, no game in the series previously had this option. However, job postings indicate that they are looking for staff with experience in these types of game modes, so it wouldn’t be surprising if we had a multiplayer component in Mafia IV.
Finally, the the studio responsible is none other than Hangar 13, team which has already taken care of the latest opuses of the saga. A studio which is seeking to redeem itself after the lukewarm response from Mafia 3 players and which will therefore put all its efforts into this fourth opus. A new game that, yes, they warned that it would take us a few years to see it, since its development has only just begun.
Something that, once again, is confirmed by the studio’s job offers, which would indicate that the project would still be finishing its pre-production phase before starting the full development of a game that promises to give a lot to say.
