what is Generation zero?
But let’s talk a little bit about the game first for those of you who are new to us. In an alternative 1980s Sweden in the Östertörn region, you will explore atmospheric and mysterious environments as you take on enemy machine intruders in first-person guerrilla action. But where did they come from? What is its purpose and where have all the people gone? This is what you need to find out while looking for weapons and equipment to fight them along with an ever-growing resistance.
Looking back at 2020
Since our last Wire post, we’ve not only celebrated our second anniversary, we’ve also contributed a lot to the game and the core experience, not least thanks to the feedback and input from our fantastic community.
Generation zero had a big expansion last summer with FNIX Rising. For those who like to deal with history, this DLC delves deeper into the lore of Östertörn. Add some new characters and some new structures to explore around the map as you learn more about FNIX. The Reaper Rival also brought a new boss that anyone could hunt down and get epic loot. There were even some additions to the arsenal with a drop of the US weapons DLC in the world.
The resistance update
We started rolling out some new features in 2021 that will create a new foundation as we continue to work on the game with our dedicated community.
Launched in February, the missions feature more activity every day for players looking for more reasons to blow up machines. There is a lot more of this, and we look forward to showing you these soon!
The Resistance Update was a significant milestone for the team and marked a new direction for our plans and the fighters in Östertörn! This addition to the base game brought the first iteration of Base Building, a repeatable horde mission that lets you collect all of the unique loot you need to create new consumables and experimental ammunition! All of this has fallen from the Soviet Weapons DLC with new loadouts!

We have rolled out many updates over the past two years that we would not have been able to achieve without the ongoing commitment of our community. Not only because they love to spend time in the world of Östertörn, but they also love to be engrossed with everyone that develops Generation zero
The Resistance Update had been in the works for some time. The establishment of bases has long been a very popular feature to supplement our ongoing battle with the machines, and this defense mission is only the beginning of what we have in store for the future of Östertörn.
All of these building blocks were the foundation of where the game will take in the years to come. We just want to expand and expand our functions and lore to work with our players to create a world they will want to return to again and again!
This year we would like to welcome millions more players Generation zero! Our inclusion in the Xbox Games Pass not only expands the community, but also gives you even more opportunities to play together with crossplay between Xbox and Windows 10 players.
