2K Games has acquired the development rights to several LEGO sports games, according to sources close to the studio.
As we could read today in the media VGC, 2K Games has reportedly acquired development rights to several sports games in the LEGO franchise. Among them, one soccer game which would be supported by the British digital sumo and another from “open world driving” developped by Visual concepts (WWE or NBA 2K). This would have been indicated by sources close to the study.
If the rumors were true, we would be facing a paradigm shift in the development of video games based on the LEGO franchise. Until now, TT Games has exclusively developed all LEGO games since 2005. According to VGC, TT Games is still developing a new titlein addition to LEGO Star Wars: The Skywaler Sagawhich will hit the market on April 5, 2022. This latest installment has had quite a few complications in its development, having been delayed for several years since its presentation.
In the face of these rumours, We wonder if LEGO games are burning the formula created by TT Games And they need a facelift. The short answer itself, although in my opinion this “new genre” created by the British developer should not go away either. Since then thanks to them, we have been able to receive a large number of franchise titles such as star wars, The Lord of the Rings, wonder, CC O Harry Potter, among many others. A guaranteed hit with the little ones in the house and a sure bet of laughter and fun for those of us who grew up assembling LEGO building blocks.
A growing franchise
