A good chunk of the Playstation community has yet to get over the via crucis of seeing how the exclusive argument fades now that they’re coming to PC. The Xbox user has already been there and agreed that ultimately did not play against the console, but strengthened it. Ultimately, they’ll end up seeing that it’s a good idea that more people can play these games, and that the franchises you love have more resources for future installments.
One of the Playstation Studios games that recently landed on PC is God of War, Kratos’ latest published adventure is proving popular on Steam and unlike other games from the house, this one is more than well optimized.
God of War optimized for the Xbox controller
It was Sony’s own studios that pushed the Japanese giant to launch its games on PC. It is therefore not surprising to read statements like the ones we bring to you today. Matt DeWald, current Senior Director of Technical Production at Santa Monica Studios, spoke with game informant
In fact, regarding the Xbox controller, DeWald pointed out that even they worked on the insertion of Xbox pictograms and icons to facilitate recognition:
It’s incredible. We even put all the glyphs for you so you don’t get confused when pressing the button. Yes, we have no problem with that. You can even use a Switch controller here too. You can definitely use one of the third-party controllers. We try to add as many options as possible, so why limit the number of people who want to play the game?
It’s always good news that developers care about these kinds of details. Ultimately, the Xbox controller is perhaps the most widely used today, so it makes sense to put some care and effort into it. Tip for Santa Monica.
