Wow! What a great month welcoming so many more Xbox and Game Pass players No Man’s Sky Travelers into our redesigned universe, catapulting our player numbers to the highest levels in five years.
The Worlds Part I update has been well received by the community, who have rushed to share amazing screenshots of their vibrant new vistas, particularly the seas, oceans, and lakes, which now ripple and sparkle with realistic wave formations and foam.
So it was only fitting that our first expedition into this brave new world took place on the water.
Available to download for free for existing Xbox players this week, the Aquarius Update introduces something we’ve wanted to add ever since we stood on the shores of No Man’s Sky’s planets, gazing out across their watery expanses – fishing!
Anyone who has explored the depths with their Nautilon submarines knows that the waters in No Man’s Sky are as rich in life as the mainland. The thrill of fishing in No Man’s Sky is that you never know exactly what you’re going to pull up. The diversity of aquatic life ranges from common, fish-like minnows to giant, alien marine mammals.
Fishing in No Man’s Sky is a uniquely relaxing experience, either alone with your thoughts or in the company of others. Grab a fishing rod and your friends (optional!) and explore the universe in search of the perfect fishing spot. Cast off from the river bank, float further out in your deployable Exo-Skiff, or get the blueprints to create automatic bait pots and build a fish farm. Craft bait and unique lures to catch rarer fish – including legendary catches, each accompanied by a bit of ocean lore.
While you wait patiently for a bite, you can also look for hidden messages in bottles from people who have passed by before. Or join the associated fishing expedition that starts next to Aquarius and sends players in search of the biggest catch of the day!
With the new opportunity to cultivate lakes, seas and oceans, you will naturally want to further develop your cooking skills and discover not only new marine life but also completely new recipes and ingredient combinations.
Fill your fishing records with over 150 unique catches, decorate your base with nautical-themed decorations, and earn a beautifully detailed set of deep-sea customization parts, including a unique underwater jetpack.
