With Season 2 locked and loading for May 3rd, we’d like to share a roadmap of what we plan to deliver during Season 2 and the rest of the year.
More than anything, we want this roadmap to be accurate and reliable. Some positions and dates are fixed and these are clearly listed. Others are labeled as “Objectives” or “Goals” and become more confident over time. The roadmap timeline will also expand as we announce longer-term initiatives. In other words, this roadmap is an evolving document and we will let you know when we make changes to it.
With that in mind, here is the Halo Infinite roadmap for 2022:
- Fixed issues that negatively impact gameplay.
- Complete Season 2 and deliver as promised on May 3rd.
- Continued work on Campaign Co-op, Forge and Season 3.
…with a “Priority Zero” of team health and getting us on a sustainable development rhythm so we can provide great experiences for you all while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
We know we need to deliver more content and more features faster. Staying true to the Zero Priority means that sometimes we have to slow down to stay healthy and move faster later. But we’re also aggressively looking for ways to accelerate.
For example, we want to get the Forge toolset in your hands sooner rather than later so that awesome community maps and modes can find their way into the game faster. To achieve this, we are aiming for an open beta of Forge later in Season 2. We’ve been successfully using Forge in private flight for some time with a limited audience, so we’ve decided to forego a large-scale formal flight program and go straight to open beta. This approach allows us to make Forge’s core tools available to everyone faster, while still focusing on our core priority of continuing to improve the fundamental aspects of Halo infinity. Forge will remain as of Open Beta and will continue to evolve and grow over time.
Please understand that all of us at 343 are totally dedicated to manufacturing as we continue to improve and ramp up Halo infinity the best gloriole experience ever. In fact, the primary reason for extending Season 2 is to give us time before releasing another season to fully address the “quality of life” improvements based on Findings from Season 1
Quality of Life (QoL) is an acronym for bug fixes, new features and/or content designed to address issues that are negatively impacting the gaming experience. We will provide QoL improvements as part of Season releases and as separate updates during Seasons.
Our player-side term for QoL updates that appear during Seasons is Drop Pods. And much like their ODST namesakes, these release vehicles are meant to turn heads once they’re done. Our goal is one Drop Pod each month, and you can expect Drop Pods to vary in scope and size. We’ll have more to share about what’s inside the Season 2 Drop Pods as soon as we can after Season 2 launches.
Speaking of which, Season 2 launch is now less than two weeks away, on May 3rd! If you haven’t seen the Season 2 previews yet new maps
We’ve got plenty more to share about Season 2, including an in-depth look at Battle Pass rewards, events – including brand new “Multiplayer Storytelling Events” that put your personal Spartan at the center of an evolving seasonal storyline – game modes, and much more during a community live stream scheduled for next Wednesday, April 27th at 1pm PST Twitch.tv/Halo and YouTube.com/Halo. During this live stream we will also be discussing the roadmap in more detail.
In summary: We strive to deliver more content, faster; we will accelerate while prioritizing the health of the team; You can expect QoL improvements throughout Seasons via Drop Pods – and you can expect more regular roadmap updates as our plans come into focus.
In the name of the whole Halo infinity Team, thank you for your passion and patience as we embark on the journey that lies ahead. We’re excited to deliver what’s already on the roadmap, as well as other content and experiences that we can’t reveal yet…but can’t wait for you to play.
