We know that The Witcher is currently one of the best known video game sagas and that thanks to CD Projekt all the work of its author, Andrzej Sapkowski, has been known. But just over two years ago, that recognition got even wider as Netflix’s incredible The Witcher series had the famous Henry Cavill as its protagonist.
After a more interesting and traditional second season in which the wizard himself had [email protected] co-stars, it seems like the time has come for Henry Cavill to say goodbye to the character. And it is that literally he released a statement in which he expressed that he had no intention of continuing to be Geralt of Rivia beyond the third season of The Witcher:
My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been full of monsters and adventures, and sadly, I have to hang up my medallion and swords for Season 4.
We already know who will be the new The Witcher
And he goes on to say that instead, the fantastic Liam Hemsworth will be the one who will interpret the White Wolf. A decision that we do not know if it comes from Cavill himself or due to a disagreement with the production of the series, but in return we will not get a precisely little known actor either. Chris Hemsworth’s brother (Thor) also spoke about it:
As a fan of The Witcher, I’m thrilled to be able to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an amazing Geralt, and I’m honored to have him give me the reins to take on the wolf blades for the next chapter of his adventure.
Henry, I’ve been your fan for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have big boots to put away, but I’m really excited to step into the world of The Witcher.
The Witcher’s third season will be coming to Netflix sometime this coming 2023, but before seeing the start of its spin-off, The Witcher: Origins of Bloodwhich will take place at the end of this year.
