With the Indie Box, the entire XboxSquad editorial team offers you mini reviews of very little known or featured indie games. While some don’t deserve to step out of the shadows of the Xbox Marketplace, others might be worth a look. That is the whole subject of this section.
Do you like playing hide and seek? you will like Invaders: hide and seek ! The pitch couldn’t be easier. On vacation in a sumptuous country home away from the world, a happy family sees three intruders storm the house, cutting off all communication with the outside world and taking the parents hostage. Only the children who are hiding remain. you are one of them Obviously not a simple burglary, you must uncover the intruders’ intentions while doing your best to go unnoticed in this huge building and save your family..
Immediate observation, you are a young boy, slow, frail and defenseless against determined, violent and prepared adults. All forms of direct confrontation, as well as fleeing when spotted, are instantly forgettable. they’ll get their hands on it quickly: Game Over. Fortunately, the game’s eight episodes are rather short and the automatic save points are sufficient to never repeat sequences that are too long. Stealth and hiding are your only options.
Unfortunately, when in doubt, intruders are quick to know where you’re hiding, and as I said above, staying invisible and silent is your best weapon. So, during a couple of hours of hide-and-seek, you will evolve in a house plunged into darkness under the storm raging outside. The opportunity to learn more about your kidnappers, their motivations and to try any means possible to save your family. I am not voluntarily divulging any element of the scenario of Invaders: hide and seek because for me it’s the strength of the game. It’s completely lacking in Manichaeism and is quite well written, so let me surprise you. Remember…stay hidden !
I appreciated:
- The scenario…
- …which takes place over the 3/4 hours it takes to complete the max game.
I’m sorry :
- No evolution in gameplay throughout the game
- No translation of the voices into French, only menus and subtitles
