Every party needs a place, and that’s where the student union (that’s British for “lounge”) comes in. Prop up your four walls, lower a milkshake bar overseen by one of your university’s assistants, and maybe throw in a disco dance floor, and you’ve got yourself party headquarters. Are parties a bit much for you? Maybe you’d rather take it slower. Hopefully not too slow, because the Speedwalking Club is looking for fresh offspring. Clubs are another way for students to stave off the doldrums while doing something productive.
At the Speedwalking Club, students are challenged to take their steps and kick up a little dust in their wake. Decorate the campus with speed walking signs and giant mouse wheels and your students’ health will increase along with their overall movement speed. Now there is no excuse for being late for the lecture.
On the other end of the spectrum is the Power-Napping Club for those who love their Zs. Practice your speaking while you sleep next to standing room by Sleepy Sheep or giant moon statues surrounded by pillows. Who approved this?
Finally, you have the Gardening Club. Take off your shoes and grab the watering can, it’s time to escape from everyday stress. Whether it’s in the library all day or in that suffocating synthetic sweater, some students just want more of the outdoors. Feel the earth under your feet, the sun on your face and the wind… wherever you feel it.
