For many of us, the current global health situation has made it even harder to spend time with friends, family, and the people we care about most. We were thrilled to see so many people using the games for fun, inspiration, and strengthening social interaction through shared ads.
At Xbox, our job has always been to bring you the best games to play, and the people you want to play with. That's why we've created the Xbox Game Pass, a community with unlimited access to the best library of Xbox games and over 100 PCs.
We are very pleased with the response of the Xbox Game Pass and yesterday announced that Game Pass now has over 10 million members from 41 countries around the world.
The Xbox Game Pass introduces a new era of games – where the public in the same Game Pass system can play the ultimate game catalog of the best, discover new titles and experiences together. With Game Pass, we want to answer the question: what should you play next with my friends?
We are just starting out on this journey, and two months ago we realized how important sports are to our community.
Since March, Xbox Game Pass members have added more than 23 million friends to Xbox Live, which is a 70% increase in the friendship range. Game Pass members also played twice as much and participated in multiplayer games, which increased by 130%.
The Xbox Game Pass enables players and their friends to disperse and discover new games they may not have played before. We know this because after joining Game Pass people have played 40% more games and over 90% of members have played a game they would never have tried without Game Pass – they often find new types they never had before. This speaks to our interest in Xbox sharing and celebrating our favorite games and shows, from producers to indie developers with different perspectives.
The Xbox Game Pass library includes some of the biggest blockbuster Franchises like it Forza, Gears of War, Halo, Minecraft, NBA 2K, again Witch. Includes many high-quality games from independent developers, and 30% of our games are popular with family-friendly topics such as Kingdom Hearts III, Ori and the will of the Wisps, and the sea of the Deaf.
We are humbled by accepting the Xbox Game Pass. It changes the way we play and get games together, and it motivates us on our journey to help people connect with gaming.
We are also inspired to provide you with our fastest, most powerful console that will set the new bar for performance, feel, speed and compatibility when kicking off this holiday; and a gaming library from our 15 Xbox Game Studios and thousands of development partners around the world. Later this year our cloud game streaming technology, Project xCloud, will be coming to Game Pass – so you and your friends can stream and play your favorite games together on your devices.
I always believe that gambling has a unique ability to bring us together, and I am proud of how our ability to deliver this unique power to so many people in times of need. I have no doubt that we will return in this way a more powerful experience.
