ID @ Xbox Winter Game Demo Event Game Overview (Part 3/4)

Third part of our file on the games of the ID @ Xbox Winter Game Demo Event. There are seven titles on the program, some of which seem very promising. Let’s take a look at the list.

Mind scanner

Currently available in Game Pass, Mind scanner is a UFO whose atmosphere reminds me a little of themAnother world, and the concept Papers, please. But the comparisons end here. You play a psychonaut, a kind of doctor who heals the psychological abnormalities of the patients you meet. All in a dystopian universe. The title therefore gives priority to reflection and management, as it will be necessary to analyze the subjects’ personality and then use the right machine to treat them. This leads to some basic on-screen mini-games. Mind scanner is definitely divisive, but personally I’m more intrigued than anything else. Fortunately, Game Pass gives the game a chance!

Nobody saves the world

The developers of the series Guacamelee changed universes completely. Exit the Metroidvania and hello the action RPG. You play as a person, a strange individual (and also naked) who has the peculiarity of being able to change its shape. From the rat to the ghost walking past a dragon, each with its own movements. Many quests have to be completed (most of them require a certain transformation) in order to advance and level up. When the story is just an excuse to eliminate chain enemies in a cartoon atmosphere, humor is ubiquitous and often hits the mark. In any case, I can’t wait to get my hands on the finished product. Especially that Nobody saves the world

will be released early next year and will be available directly in Game Pass.

Outbreak: Contagious memories

Seventh episode in the series outbreak, beautiful. This franchise is primarily known for two things: its easy hits and its inspiration from the ancients. resident Evil. You can feel that as soon as you start the demo, because as soon as you press Start, a deep voice speaks the title of the game. After a plethora of hints and settings, I’m finally in control of the character. Since I didn’t do an episode of the series, I can’t compare myself to my experience, but I know that the technical side seems to have been improved, especially with dubbed cinematics. However, we are clearly sticking to the independent game. If the graphics aren’t ugly, the gameplay from another age won’t make you want to explore this universe full of zombies in more detail.

Overpass: rhythm road trip

A very short demo: only two songs. And yes, I’m talking about music because Overpass is a rhythm game. A score scrolls across the screen as in a Guitar hero, and you have to press the keys in time. The specialty is that the latter is hidden in the decor. It will be necessary to keep your eyes open so as not to make a mistake. The environments remind me of another title in the genre, Aero

. It remains to be seen whether the gameplay can renew itself over time, because in two parts we get the impression that we have seen much of it. As a fan of music games, I’m personally looking forward to their release in 2022.

Raccoon Venture

Raccoon Venture is a cute 3D platform game in which the hero is a raccoon. The title reminds me personally Great Lucky’s Talebut with a better camera. There are lots of hidden objects to discover and the universe is quite enchanting. Some puzzles are added here and there and the difficulty seems very accessible as it is a family title. The gameplay has no flaws and is very efficient, which is rare for the genre. A good surprise in the hope that the concept will be renewed throughout the adventure. Very curious to try the finished product anyway.

Spaceship

The title screen is accompanied by music that is strongly reminiscent of The cruise is fun

(Love boat in English). On top of that, the creatures are all more locked in than the others, it’s obvious that Spaceship do not intend to play it seriously. If I expected to be playing a party game before the game started, it is not at all. We are here approaching a narrative adventure in which the objects to collect are important in understanding all of the problems of the plot. You control Inspector Domino, a kind of humanoid cat on the hunt for an intergalactic criminal. The dialogues are full of humor and meta-references, and the title even borrows from some point-and-click mechanics. In short, see if you are fans of the genre.

Space lines from a distance

When Overcooked! to encounter Crazy taxi in space there is Space lines from a distance ! Their goal is simple: to get passengers from A to B. Not overly complicated on paper, but nowhere near that simple in practice. Between steering your ship by avoiding obstacles and reaching your destination, passengers for entertainment or food and possibly for repairing the ship, you quickly risk being overwhelmed. Fortunately, other players can come and help! Where the originality lands is that the concept is rejected in Roguelite, with procedurally generated levels! In any case, the demo is quite convincing, but gives an idea of the typical flaw of this genre: Solo becomes boring quickly. In short, I am carefully monitoring the release of this title.
