In the Xbox zone, we had the privilege of being one of the guests at the ID@Xbox digital event. In it, we had the opportunity to preview the most promising games coming exclusively to Xbox and PC thanks to the ID@Xbox program. This program allows independent developers to self-publish their games on Xbox and Windows. This is one of the most interesting programs for small studios and for discovering new talent. Then, we tell you everything we saw and our impressions of these games, which no Xbox user can ignore:
The Last Case of Benedict Fox
It was certainly already one of the games that caught our attention the most in past Xbox events. Bartek Lesiakowskione of the people in charge of the study, clarified a few more points about the game. It’s basically a metroidvania. But the game is a mixture of investigation with puzzles, platforming and combat. Yes, you read that right, combat, and there is an RPG component to learning skills related to tattoos that the protagonist can get. One of the most striking abilities we’ve seen is being able to turn to stone to deny/block attacks. Our character will also be able to invoke rituals to revive mythical creatures like the golem or travel through dimensional portals.
The main sources of inspiration for the game are jazz music (which accompanies the game in many parts), the 1920s and film noir. Of course, the fundamental basis of his aesthetic are the unknown worlds created by the writer H. P Lovecraft. We expect that We also saw a Boss ending, one of those that takes up the entire screen and that we love so much. We look forward to its release on April 27, as the cocktail of genres paired with the particular aesthetic anticipates a big game.
Eternal Space 2
Michael Shade CEO and co-founder of Rockfish Games presented us with a detailed trailer and gameplay of Eternal Space 2. The sequel to the original game is a ship shooter in a semi-open world. We can explore many corners of the galaxy and of course fight in space with ships of all shapes and sizes. The game has a strong RPG component, in the sense that we can buy better parts to improve our ship. Not everything will be buying and earning, since exploration will be rewarded with treasures and unique items. There will also be many customization options with aesthetic elements that we will obtain and that will make our ship unique. And we can’t forget the final bosses, who will also appear at certain points in the story.
The game is captivating with a deep and elaborate story. It’s not just shooting and killing enemies, but the script has been very neat, with up to four hours of dialogue. It has many places and planets to visit, as well as hidden secrets. Eternal Space 2 It can be up to a hundred hours if we try to unlock and find all these secrets. There will also be puzzles, so it’s not all action and exploration, but those won’t be necessary if that’s not your playstyle.
The game was made with player collaboration and feedback, as it received over 5,000 early access reviews. All of this helped them adjust the difficulty settings, gameplay, and tweak it tremendously. Its release date will be April 6 for PC and in the summer, without yet determining a precise date, for Xbox. Space awaits us with this game that promises hours of fun.
Lana’s Planet
Adam Starlightcreative director of Wishfully Studios told us about the delicious Lana’s Planet. He himself defines the game as a puzzle adventure, with a platforming and exploration component. There we will have to save the protagonist’s sister and the rest of her town from the invasion of some evil machines. For this we will move through different biomes and despite the beauty and color of the game at the beginning, the story will become darker. We will have a partner in our adventure, a kind of cat that will allow us to control another series of creatures, helping us overcome different obstacles.
One thing that Stjärnljus was particularly proud of the sound design. The truth is that it’s really impressive how they managed to recreate all kinds of sounds from the sets and creatures. Added to this is that the composer of the beautiful melodies of the game is neither more nor less than the creator of the music of The Last Guardian.
Iinside, limbo or the mythical Backtrack oh Another world are recognized as the authentic basis of Lana’s Planet. Undoubtedly, excellent mainstays of these widely recognized games. IThe aesthetic inspiration comes from Studio Ghibli, a reference in Japanese and world animation, which is why the game exudes an extraordinary beauty.
This spring of 2023 we can enjoy this beautiful work of art transformed into a video game.
Light Year Frontier
Joakim HedstromCEO of Frame Break, a small Swedish studio told us about Light Year Frontier. The game is fundamentally management oriented. We land on a planet where we have to create our house and our farms, so the collection of materials and the good management of the construction and the resources that we find will be vital aspects. Depending on the materials, we can enlarge everything to transform our small house into a town or a village. Of course, there will be no shortage of particular cosmetic elements to give a personal touch to our constructions.
But the game surprised us with more than just management. Exploration will be important as it uncovers a hidden mystery. We handle a bit that will make our lives easier when it comes to moving and handling materials, even if Hedstrom confirmed that there may be parts where we get out of it.
One of the highlights of the game will be the ability to play solo or multiplayer. In the multiplayer case, the experience can vary greatly by combining resources and exploring different terrains each.
Without a doubt, a game that will delight fans of management and that will steal many hours from us. The game will come to us as Xbox Early Access.
