With the Indie Box, the entire XboxSquad editorial team offers you mini reviews of very little known or featured indie games. While some don’t deserve to step out of the shadows of the Xbox Marketplace, others might be worth a look. That is the whole subject of this section.
Developed by Petite Games, Small disaster features a small explosive orb that you must guide through 72 levels to reach a crystal. Don’t ask me why, I don’t seem to have even noticed the script’s introduction…
The entire gameplay of the title is based on the fact that you can trigger an explosion at will and, depending on the dosage, more or less high jumps and chain reactions. Watch your explosimeter carefully to reach your goal. However, death (which is common) is not a punishment of any kind, as each level is independent and accessible through the game menu. I forgot that your explosions will also gradually destroy the decoration, so watch out!
Small disaster is clearly not the game of the year, we agree on that, but the proposition is interesting. We chain the levels without thinking about it, honing our technique try by try to reach the crystal and so on
I loved :
- An unpretentious but entertaining indie platformer
- 1000G in less than 30 minutes
I’m sorry :
- Management of the sometimes complicated explosimeter
