Indie Box - Ten dates, love at first sight

In the previous episode five appointments, A man was looking for love through a dating app. With Ten appointments We focus on the love life of a man, Ryan, and a woman, Misha. She instinctively drags her boyfriend into speed dating and he gets involved in the game. I have to admit that I don’t like FMVs. So I started with a negative a priori Ten appointments

and to my surprise I really enjoyed it!

First of all, the acting – the essential element to get carried away by the story – is impeccable. Everyone is just playing and we can easily identify with the characters, a post-Covid youngster from London who wants to find the shoe that suits him. We meet a few slightly cartoonish archetypes (the geek, the uptight intellectual), but whether it’s Ryan, Misha or the other singles, it’s overall flawless. Their mode of interaction is realistic and corresponds to encounters as one might have in reality, with their share of complicit moments or misunderstandings.

Another good point Ten appointments from the heteronormative framework. Ryan could start a relationship with the speed dating host and Misha with a young woman he met at the end of the evening. The title is definitely rooted in its time because it also touches on topics such as polyamory or autism. But if I wanted to argue, I’d say that’s the point Ten appointments forming a pair thus precludes any notion of self-actualization outside of this framework. Each unsuccessful attempt leaves behind a smell of unfinished business and invites you to start over, implying that there can be no happiness in celibacy.

Be careful though, to enjoy this series of romantic dates you need to be fluent in English. There is no dubbing or subtitling in French. Another point that might turn you off if you hunt Gs, at the time of writing this article, the achievements were bugged. They stopped unlocking for me after five or six achievements.
