Hello Xbox fans! Thanks for clicking the headline and checking out our game. Nice that you are here! So first a bit about us. We are a small studio called Yaza Games and we are the makers of It’s a peanut – a turn-based strategy game where a rabbit’s butt can be deadlier than a dog’s sword. We all met by chance at the Game Design School in Poland and It’s a peanut (or the first idea and the prototype for it) was our thesis, so to speak. That was almost five years ago. Since then we have been building, improving, expanding and polishing It’s a peanut, we ran a successful Kickstarter campaign, partnered with Daedalic Entertainment as publishers and we were able to do something together with Xbox too! Now let’s get ready to bring slow It’s a peanut out into the world and we can’t wait to see and hear your reactions to it. But let’s get back to basics. Let us tell you a little more about it It’s a peanut even.
The history of It’s a peanut started a few years ago at the aforementioned Game Design School in Warsaw. In the final months of our course, we had to prototype a game to complete it. At first we had absolutely no idea, no concept and no solid idea for a game. The perfect place to be there! We went through countless ideas, but nothing felt right to us. Then one day our art director, Dorota, brought a book to class and she showed us these crazy medieval drawings – called “marginalia” – in the margins of manuscripts. We saw snails eating knights, sword-wielding bunnies dueling dogs, and other crazy mind-blowing things! We’d never seen anything like it before, and the more we looked at them, the more excited we all got. We could feel something magical happening – a sense of electricity began to spark. That was the moment when we fell in love with medieval illuminations and marginalia. It was also the moment we knew what our game was going to be like.
Now that we had the look, we had to decide on a genre. That came pretty naturally. After a few discussions, we settled on a turn-based strategy genre. It felt right. We believe this genre allows us to delve even deeper into the world of medieval manuscripts and it suits them better than anything else! The feel of the books, two enemies fighting each other, even the pacing, everything seemed consistent. We felt like we had put the pieces together. We had a game prototype!
Although we worked on it It’s a peanut For some time, the original core ideas of the game haven’t changed. We want our game to be as authentic to both the medieval European manuscripts and the world and stories from that era. All of the visuals, world and humor were created by monks and scribes hundreds of years ago! We just bought it for a new medium – that of a video game. Our other core idea is that we want our game to be easy to learn but hard to master. There are many strategic levels that we have implemented in our game to keep your brain cells busy. Don’t be fooled by medieval cuteness!
We hope you enjoyed our little story about our game It’s a peanut came about. When It’s a peanut Coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Cloud, you can experience both a single player campaign and multiplayer battles from the couch. We will provide you with more details It’s a peanut in the near future, so please stay tuned. And until then, keep your pens and wits sharp It’s a peanut Trainee!
All the best,
Yaza Games, on behalf of the faculty of Inkulinati Academy
