Hi everyone, I’m Robert, the solo developer behind this Hokko life – a creative life simulation game, now available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S!
I thought I’d share a few words about some of the different places in Hokko and the fun and relaxing activities you can experience during your time there.
First things first, let’s talk about the meadow! Shortly after arriving in town, you’ll renovate your own home in the meadow and begin your new life in Hokko. As more and more villagers move into town, you’ll decide where to build houses, customize their appearance, and move in (or evict) residents; Each Meadow layout is random, making your world truly personal. However, the meadow is not the only place where you can build houses. How about a beautiful beach residence or even a room with a view of the mountain top? With Hokko lifePersonalization and creativity are key, and you can customize your city however you want!
Speaking of creativity, let’s talk about the workshop! Here you will find all the tools you need to take your city to the next level. Use the resources you find in the world, take a seat at the design table and design anything you can imagine! By combining different shapes, materials and colors in a 100% free-form editor, you can create any furniture; The sky really is the limit for creativity! And if you don’t know where to start, you can take an existing design and revise it to your own taste. or download other players’ creations and give them your own personal touch. Anything you design or download can be used to decorate your town or any house and make your village truly unique.
However, it’s not just furniture and items you can design! Grab paint and brushes and create a new look by designing your own shoes, skirts, hats and more! You can even create bespoke wall and floor designs, paint custom signs, or create the perfect piece of art to hang on your wall.
If you fancy a change from all that decorating, there are plenty of other activities to keep you busy. Chat to Derris and he’ll get you started fishing; Unlock a huge amount of fish ready to be collected and added to your scrapbook. Craft different lures and go to the beach, grove, and meadow at different times of the year to make sure you catch them all.
Mastered all fishing spots? Flip through the pages of the collection book and you will find a great, long list of butterflies and other insects found around the world. Hunt them in the woods or maybe even find some lurking in the city center.
While you’re downtown, go to Moss’s general store and see what new furniture or items he has in stock; or sell what you don’t need to make extra money. Across the square, Laurus’s Salon is the place to go for a makeover and find the latest fashions. You can also find Rosa’s office in the city center; sell new roofs and walls to customize houses; as well as housing services when a new resident moves in.
If you fancy a little day trip, why not hop on a train and head over to the city centre? the online location for the game. Here you’ll find a range of stores including the Community Store, showcasing the winning community designs from the last Creator Challenge; the department store, where you can view other players’ creations and upload your own; and the Seasonal Store, open for a limited time during real seasons to offer limited themed items for your city.
Do you feel fully booked? Take a boat to the desert island, available in a day-one update of the game, where you can sit back and relax, or maybe even spend some time searching for ancient artifacts. Archaeologist Leonard’s dig isn’t going too well, so help him out and donate whatever you find to get fun rewards!
Back on the mainland it’s time to end the day and what better way than pottering around the farm, watering your plants and tending to your harvest. Maybe your pumpkins are ready to be picked or there are new oranges to pick from the tree. I’m sure Grandma and the other residents will be beyond thrilled with anything you grow!

Get everyone in town wearing your own unique designs! BUILD: Enlist the help of the local builder and start expanding the city. Place buildings wherever you want and prepare them for new villagers to move into the city. DECORATE: Customize the interior and exterior of each house, choose designs and place furniture to create a home your new friends will love. FARM: Turn every piece of land into a place to grow vegetables and other crops, use your green fingers to grow and sell the best produce. FISH: Spend a leisurely morning at the various fishing spots around the world of Hokko and build your fishing tackle collection. Fish have unique habits, so you’ll need to vary your approach, with each catch presenting its own reel-in challenge. BEETLE HUNT: As you flutter and scurry through the world of Hokko, find a whole host of bugs for you to catch and build up your collection; Watch out, you never know what’s hiding in that bush!
