The Kaito Files tells the story of Masaharu Kaito, the Yagami detective agency’s beefcake, as he takes on a lucrative case in the highly anticipated DLC expansion Lost Judgment.

Kaito’s compelling four-chapter story and new sensory investigation modes offer a whole new perspective through which to experience Kamurocho and delve into the past of the ex-Yakuza. But perhaps the most distinctive part of Kaito’s gear is his new fighting styles. In this guide, we share some insider tips on how to get the most out of Kaito’s two fighting styles: Bruiser and Tank.

Lost Judgment - The Kaito Files

Bruiser style

The Bruiser style is Kaito’s bread and butter and is immediately available to players. The more offensive of Kaito’s two fighting styles, Bruiser is all about stacking the punches between quick dodges that are great at maintaining momentum.

You’ll gain access to a special ability called Repel very quickly, a parry that allows you to counterattack yourself if timed well. You can further increase Repel’s effectiveness by unlocking Bruiser’s Hidden Arts, which greatly increase your attack speed after successfully repelling an enemy attack!

But Bruiser style isn’t just about offense: it also gives Kaito access to quick dodges. For example, Dodge Roll allows you to quickly escape from sticky situations after performing a Double Quickstep, perfect when surrounded by enemies.

Advanced bruiser style technique

To maximize Bruiser’s damage, we recommend the Gripping Piledriver, which allows you to extend Kaito’s Triple Rush combo after the final hit with an additional follow-up attack! If you want to take as much damage as possible, this is the attack to go for.

Tank style overview

Once a fearsome bodyguard for his former patriarch, Kaito always came to his defense like a fully armored tank. Kaito’s armor style combines a fierce weapon-based attack with impenetrable defense.

Grab n’ Smash has Kaito automatically pick up and smash nearby weapons – including bikes and traffic cones! He can also deflect attacks from all directions using the Iron Guard technique, although it doesn’t save him from deadly attacks like gunshots. Unlocking the tank’s Hidden Arts ability will also give you increased defense after performing a Perfect Iron Guard.

The tank style is also superbly close at hand. The Wrestler’s Throw skill allows you to counter an enemy hold with a grappling hook of your own! Or, if you manage to put some distance between you and your enemy, charge up a Prime Tackle for a heavy hitter that can even take out multiple enemies!

Advanced tank style engineering

Unlock Iron Break to learn how to perform the Perfect Iron Guard skill during a rush combo, ideal when you need to quickly defend against a group of enemies from any angle. We also recommend the Ultimate Perfect Iron Guard upgrade with the EX Unyielding Counter, which allows you to turn a well-timed guard into a powerful counter throw!

The Kaito Files is now available as part of the Ultimate Edition of Lost Judgment and season pass. It is also available separately on the Xbox Store (base game required to play).
