Indeed in 2013 we learned that the prototypes of the controller for Xbox One included a kind of system so that the controller could emit odors
We are building samples of different types of smells that could really come out of a remote control. For example, while walking in a jungle, you might smell flora.
Prototypes of the Xbox One controller
There were crazy ideas like touch screens, speakers or cameras. Some of these ideas if we have seen them implemented in PlayStation controllers, but Microsoft decided to lay the groundwork and improve the ergonomics, reliability and layout of controls.
Today we can show you a color photo of one of the prototypes. It can be seen that the design line looks a lot like Xbox 360 controllers
Personally, I like the design, maybe more for the nostalgia than anything else. Fortunately, I’m thankful that ultimately the model we know today was the one that prevailed, its button configuration still seems the best to me, and the Select + Start that appears in the prototype would be uncomfortable for me.
