Adrián, Asís, Guille, Kiril, Marco, Noa, Sara and Sergio are the first little players to have taken part in this very special competition, which will now be held every year. This initiative arose during the confinement of 2020 when, to alleviate the isolation of children in treatment, the Foundation created the action #TakeOnePartida. Thus organizing meetings between them, and players like Marcos Llorente, Vinicius, Luis Suárez or the Formula 1 driver, Carlos Sainz.

The creation of this community of actors is one of the actions resulting from the results of the scientific study presented this year by the Foundation. It shows that playing video games reduces pain in children treated for cancer.

What is this initiative about?

The Juegaterapia Foundation, dedicated to improving the lives of hospitalized children with cancer through play, presents Pelones Jugones. It is the first esports community formed by children treated for cancer. This is an initiative in which the little ones from any hospital in Europe will be able to connect and play games with each other.

The first online competition between these children was a real challenge. With their own equipment and immersed in the FIFA 22, played among themselves until reaching the final which took place in the Amazon GAMERGY MAPFRE Edition, the ideal setting for these champions. They are Adrian, Asís, Guille, Kiril, Marco, Noa, Sara Yes Sergio, aged 13 to 16.

The top prize, a PS5, went to 17-year-old Marco from Madrid. The second, Sony PlayStation virtual reality glasses, was aimed at 16-year-old Guille from Burgos. And the third, for Assisi, 14 years old from Palencia, gaming headsets, although all the participants had a price. The new Community of Pelones Jugones uses a special platform designed for this purpose by the company GGTech in solidarity. From now on, all children who wish will be able to register and competitions with different video games will follow., there will be rewards and online training. But above all, there will be a lot of fun. This first competition was also possible thanks to the solidarity of Sony PlayStation, EA Sports and the RFEF.

playing video games reduces pain in children with chemo and promotes healing

After 11 years of installing and distributing game consoles in pediatric oncology factories, the foundation launched this gaming initiative which reinforces its motto “The chemo that plays passes quickly”. In January 2021, Juegaterapia published the results of a scientific studies

promoted by her and performed at La Paz Hospital in Madrid. It is shown that when children treated for cancer play with video consoles, they experience less pain and by activating their parasympathetic system, the game also promotes their healing.

Starting from this reality, Juegaterapia developed the idea of the Community of Jugones Pelones to extend the use of video games to all pediatric cancer patients to improve your quality of life, while playing. For the past year, each new child in an oncology department has received a JappyKit, a bag full of gifts and a game console so that he can face his illness with energy and play. Almost 500 have already been delivered and the number continues to increase. All, potential future players of the recently released Pelones Jugones Community.

One of Juegaterapia’s ties to video games for years is the solidarity streaming that L3tCraft realizes each year with thousands of participants from all over the world. The last edition, which was held a few days ago, raised 133,000 dollars for the benefit of the Foundation.

About Juegaterapia

The Juegaterapia Foundation helping children with cancer through play. When chemotherapy treatments do not allow them to leave their room, Play Therapy takes them there. And I also play in every corner of pediatric hospitals, which the foundation transforms into joyful, playful and magical places. Where there used to be rooftops, there are now open-air gardens. Disused rooms which are today cinemas or play areas with screens, televisions and virtual reality glasses. What were once isolation chambers are now lunar stations who exchange feelings of anguish and boredom for play and fun.

The garden of my hospi This is an initiative by Juegaterapia, a pioneer in Europe, which consists of recovering the disused roofs of hospitals and transforming them into gardens so that all admitted children can play outside. He has already built four in hospitals in La Paz on October 12 and the Gregorio Marañón in Madrid and another in La Fe de Valencia. The following actions are already underway at the Niño Jesús Hospital and in Malaga.
