Just a few hours after the sale of Gearbox Entertainment and Gearbox Software to Take-Two, numerous employees were shown the door.
As we previously reported, Gearbox Entertainment acquired Gearbox Software for $460 million from Embracer Group. sold to Take-Two.
According to several social media posts, some employees were laid off shortly after it was announced that the company was being acquired by Take-Two Interactive.
“Along with countless others, I have just learned that I have been laid off from Gearbox,” wrote former public relations manager Jennifer Locke X Twitter.
“Following the exciting news of the Take-Two Interactive and Gearbox Entertainment merger last night, I, like many others, received the unfortunate news this morning that my position is no longer needed,” wrote former Director of Online Engagement Chris Harada on LinkedIn.
Numerous other employees reported that they had lost their jobs. Exactly how many employees were laid off is currently unknown.
