We hope you enjoyed it Zombie Army 4. We’re still working hard on Season 3, and while this is fresh in our minds, it seemed like a good time to give you another behind-the-scenes look at the next round of DLC.
Each season offers a mix of free and paid content. This time and for free for everyone – whether you bought the game or play with Xbox Game Pass – the cast of left 4 Dead Return to the zombie army universe! In the original Zombie Army trilogy, the comic strip Wrong Place, Wrong Time revealed that the cast of left 4 Dead were pushed back through time by an occult relic to face an army of Nazi dead. It’s been over ten years since a left 4 Dead Game released, so it took some fine-tuning to match the resolution with modern levels of detail and rendering techniques! Our goal was to make her look like you notice they look inside left 4 DeadSo if we got it right it looks like we didn’t do anything at all.
Players who pick up the Season 3 Pass can continue the Return to Hell story campaign with a new mission, Abaddon Asylum. All of this season’s missions are experimenting with different styles of sandbox play and exploration to see what new flavors of gameplay the zombie army formula will abandon. This time around, we’re giving players several parallel little goals to complete in the open city of Abrunza that will encourage in-depth exploration (and also uncover a few more Easter Eggs for fans of) Sniper Elite 4). The mission ends with a much more extensive dungeon finale – a former monastery that is now used as a madhouse, where you finally discover the mastermind behind the occult rituals.
It was great fun building an iconic, spooky place and finally giving a voice to a character who lurked in the shadows during the DLC seasons and started the events of the main campaign. It took a few iterations to find the right rhythm and ensure the mission becomes a fun challenge over and over again.
The new content drop will also include a range of cosmetic items – WWII headgear, a WW1 costume for Josiah, and zombie tank skins for weapons from the base game – and a new weapon, the MP.1940 SMG , with a solid price of fire and low recoil, plus an assortment of Nazi occult cosmetics.
