It’s official: Obsidian’s new RPG is coming early next year.
Following a report earlier this week on Xbox’s new RPG Avowed could be delayed until early 2025, Microsoft has officially confirmed.
In a new graphic shared on social media, Xbox has confirmed that the next Obsidian game will be released on February 18, 2025.. The official account added that this would give the game “some room to breathe” and “more time to cook.” Previously, The title was scheduled for fall 2024.
Xbox: “So many games to come! As such, we’re moving Avowed to February 18, 2025 to give players some breathing room.
Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer also mentioned that Xbox wants the Obsidian team to have the “best launch possible.”Phil Spencer: “We’re proud of what the Obsidian team has accomplished with @AvowedTheGame and want to make sure it has the best possible launch. We hope you enjoy it and the rest of our upcoming games and updates this year and beyond.”
As The Verge previously reported, Microsoft wants to give Avowed “a break from a very busy period for Xbox Game Pass” this year. The same calendar confirms that the rest of the 2024 programming includes Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (November), Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (undated), Starfield Shattered Space (undated), and Towerborne (undated). Avowed will now join South of Midnight, Doom: The Dark Ages, Fable “and more” games coming to Xbox and Game Pass in 2025.
