Masahiro Ito and Akira Yamaoka were also actively involved in development of Silent Hill 2 Remake, Bloober Team revealed.
Bloober Team’s Lead Producer Maciej Głomb provided more insight into the development of Silent Hill 2 Remake in an interview.
As he revealed to GamingBolt, composer Akira Yamaoka and creature designer Masahiro Ito are actively involved in the development of the remake.
The two heads involved in the original game were therefore able to provide explanations for long-standing rumors or pictures of monsters, as Glomb says.
“We fell off our chairs knowing we have the original creators on board. They’ve given us a much-needed explanation for the many in-game references that have been floating around the internet for over 20 years, and we’ll continue to ask the OGs for their opinions on our shared gem. They were also actively involved in the development themselves – Ito-san provided us with location and monster concept art, while Yamaoka-san composed the music for the game.”
In the first year of development, they worked closely with Konami. In doing so, Bloober Team received creative encouragement from the company for their vision of the remake.
“As with any project, early in production there is a lot of high-level discussion about the direction we want to take and, in the case of a remake, what parts of the original we are going to change or leave untouched. We spent the first year or so working closely with Konami and constantly exchanging ideas. But if it wasn’t for the pandemic, we could have sat in a room and brainstormed ideas face to face. Konami has been incredibly encouraging in our creative direction and has been very supportive of our vision for the game. Their trust in us has led to us taking responsibility for the development of the game.”
