humanity is an action puzzle game where you take on the role of a Shiba Inu trying to rebuild humanity after its destruction by a rogue AI. It’s coming to Xbox today. If you have Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass, you can download and play right now! If you’re not familiar with humanityread our announcement post on Xbox Wire Here.
When you’re on a task as big as saving humanity single-handedly (one paw at a time?), you could probably use a few tips. We’ve got you covered. Here are seven tips to make sure you start off on the right foot—er, paw.
1. Correct your flow
In each humanity In this phase, you place orders on the ground to direct people over obstacles and solve puzzles to get them into a goal. Goals fill with light as people pour into them. But sometimes you may notice that a goal doesn’t fill up or only partially fills up. This means you need a larger influx of people to trigger it. Check your route and make sure no one is going off track and that you have a consistent number of people going in.
2. Don’t worry about losing some people
humanityThe story takes place in a central area called the Proving Grounds, where AI “cores” conduct experiments to restore humanity. The humans you lead are made of light – so when they die, they turn back into light and go back through the door. So don’t feel bad if you (inevitably!) lose a few to cliffs or falling blocks or weapons. The only human-like characters you should worry about losing are the bonus Goldies that unlock game progression, cosmetics, and more. And for them, consider…
3. Put your employees on hold
The never-ending, ever-moving line of people doesn’t have to be stressful. If theme parks have taught us anything, it’s that putting people in a queue saves everyone a headache. Use the queue to your advantage by directing people in a circular or back-and-forth pattern when you need to temporarily hold onto something securely. This is perfect for making sure you don’t lose a bonus Goldy mid-level.
4. Use diving for fast traversal and higher jumps
At the end of the game’s prologue, you learn a very important technique – diving. If you press the jump button in mid-air, you’ll dive into the horde of people and be able to move between them as if they were water. It’s a great way to travel quickly through levels, but there’s an even more advanced trick. You can use the momentum when you emerge from a dive (by pressing jump again) to jump higher than you normally can. This lets you climb walls three blocks high with ease.
5. Use Retry Keep commands
Shortly after starting Story Mode, the ability to replay a level but keep the commands you’ve already set is unlocked. This option is called “Retry Keep Commands” and is perhaps the most important when designing a path for people. Because if you realize you’ve made a mistake that you don’t have time to correct, you can simply use “Retry Keep Commands” to reset the flow of people and make corrections (optionally, you can also use “Retry Clear Commands” to clear the level completely).
6. Stuck? Watch the solution video
humanity is a puzzle game; sometimes you might need a hint – a nudge in the right direction. We didn’t want you to get stuck on a puzzle. Select “Solution Video” from the pause menu and watch as much or as little of the clip as you like. It won’t tell you how to get the Goldy, though. That’s up to you!
7. Do you want more? humanity? Play thousands of custom levels
Here is one of the most important tips ever. If you love a certain type of puzzle in humanity or just want to keep playing after you’ve finished the story, head to Play Stages from the title screen. Here you’ll find playlists of user-created levels – nearly 10,000 have already been uploaded. Each level even has a difficulty rating so you can find levels that match your puzzle skill level. You can search for specific puzzle types and sort by highest rating, best solve rate, or most recent uploads. To launch, we’ve got a specially selected playlist of Xbox-inspired levels.
And there you have it: seven important tips for an optimal experience at humanity. It’s available now on Xbox and with Game Pass and PC Game Pass. Good luck saving humanity!!
