Every story has a beginning – and in less than a month you will experience a gripping racing story in F1 2021, courtesy of our new mode: Braking Point.
As one of many new additions to this year’s official Formula 1 title from Codemasters and EA Sports, Braking Point combines exciting races and haunting storytelling for a fresh, narrative experience inspired by the modern F1 paddock. Of course, to write such an ambitious story takes a stellar and diverse cast, and Braking Point delivers just that: a gifted rising star, a fearless veteran, a returning loudmouthed rival, and more.
Today we’re giving you an overview of five of the most important Braking Point characters in F1 2021. Let’s meet the stars of our show without further ado …
Aiden Jackson
The way up is seldom easy. Aiden Jackson’s rapid ascent into Formula 1 was a Cinderella story and he’s already making waves in the premier class of motorsport, but the youngster’s charm and confidence are shaken by fierce new rivalries and the media spotlight. Aiden’s chance to become an F1 superstar is at the end of his debut season – it will take all of his talent, determination and nerve to overcome obstacles on and off the track to make that dream come true.
Casper Akkerman
A seasoned paddock veteran, ‘Cas’ is a cold, no-nonsense personality looking for more fame in the twilight of his career. Consistent on the track and in front of the cameras, Akkerman is an important part of a team determined to rise above midfield. While he is fully focused on not going quietly into the night, a new rival and mounting tensions on his team force Casper to rethink his approach to racing.
Devon Butler
No good story is complete without a classic villain. Devon is a cocky and cheeky upstart desperate to make a name for himself and will happily do so at the expense of others. Sounds annoying, doesn’t it? What is even more irritating, however, is that Devon has the speed and skill on the right track to back up his arrogant personality. Whether you’re behind the wheel or in the paddock, overcoming the Braking Point antagonist is a lot easier said than done.
Brian Doyle
A contagious passion for the sport and an unmatched work ethic have made Brian a mainstay of the F1 scene, known as a strong manager of people and behind-the-scenes situations. As a direct link between the team principal and other employees, including the drivers, Brian has to deal with politics and personalities at all times – and maybe his only weakness is balancing his emotions when things don’t go quite as planned. Expect to see lots of Brian as the intense story unfolds on and off the track.
Zoe Akkerman
Casper’s wife and a well-known figure in the paddock, Zoe was right there with her husband during his F1 trials and tribulations. As the mother of her young daughter Lily, Zoe is always on hand to provide down-to-earth advice and empathetic support to ‘Cas’ – but she is also aware of the demons her partner faces when a new generation of competitors presses on her in Casper’s place . Zoe’s influence is in demand now more than ever.
Brake Point: A brand new F1 2021 story experience
Each of these characters and their journeys are woven into Braking Point’s narrative as you play over three seasons with five selectable teams, aiming to achieve the dream of F1 glory. Braking Point is a big addition for F1 2021, but it is far from the only one. Take on Career mode in a new way with a two-player option or a real season start that adds that season’s live rating and lets you jump into the action at any point in the championship that has already taken place.
