Without a doubt, the Metro saga has become one of the most well-known IPs in the video game industry in its own right. Perhaps because it’s not owned by one of the “big guys”, such as Microsoft, Sony, EA or Ubisoft, it went somewhat unnoticed in its early years, but its latest installment was undoubtedly a true great game and an exceptional example of the quality that 4A Games is able to offer with its favorite franchise.
The news is that today Embracer itself has confirmed that Metro Exodus has sold 8.5 million copies, a figure that puts it alongside other big brands, like Resident Evil, without going more far, whose penultimate installment, Resident Evil Village, was already around 6.1 million at the start of last year. Of course, it didn’t take that sales milestone for there to be another sequel, which has undoubtedly been in the works for at least two years.

Xbox Game Pass boosted Metro Exodus sales
While I can’t confirm it exactly, it’s clear that Metro Exodus’ entry into Xbox Game Pass has helped fans be able to play it, reaching 10 million players. But its next-gen update was the one that established it as one of the titles that currently makes the best example of Ray Tracing on console, even on Xbox Series S, with few games that can compare to it.
Metro’s adventures are far from over. Single-player adventures are all the rage, and a new title from 4A Games would be very well received by fans and lovers of the genre, which has also happened to Atomic Heart, which plays in a similar league.
