Miasma Chronicles is preparing to surpass the studio’s predecessor game, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden
Until very recently, the realm and control of real-time strategy (especially on consoles) fell to the very few, with X-COM leading the way for well-known reasons. Little by little, proposals were germinating that had nothing or almost nothing to envy to the saga developed by Firaxis Games. One of those games that opened our eyes was Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, a development that made us fall in love with the fights and its protagonists. Building on its success, the company did not hesitate to bet again on this formula with Miasma Chronicles Will his next job overthrow his predecessor?
The study women with beards (telita with the name) are demanding and ambitious with their work. And for a few weeks I can testify to it. Again, thanks to 505 games
I’ll trade you a duck for a robot
On this occasion, we return to a world plunged into chaos and anarchy, even if we will have a slightly more post-apocalyptic cyberpunk aesthetic. We will control Elvis, one of the few survivors of Miasmas, an unstoppable, indescribable force that has shattered the world as we know it. Protected by a robot that acts as a mentor and bodyguard, we will have to leave the city in which we live to unlock the secrets and mysteries that revolve around this “entity”. But the road will not be easy, of course.
There are times when the context is just an excuse to start shooting right and left. But I must confess that in the little that I could play, I was immersed in this setting. Or rather, the little that remains of this decor. Walking through the ruins, looking at the desolate landscapes and having conversations with our metallic friend allow us immerse yourself in what is happening on the screen,
Who joins our cause?
Only the exploration and conversation part is going well. Chronicles itself couldn’t stand out if it didn’t have a well-made combat part, and here it does not disappoint either. Like other games of the same type, we can seek cover, ambush enemies and even use different heights to cause more damage. Remotes are super affordable, and in a few skirmishes we will master our protagonists perfectly.
As in all these games, we can not say much more than the first impressions already exposed. I need to know many aspects of the title. To begin with, if we will have more characters than the first two. And what is more important, It remains to be seen if we will be able to improve our abilities or if we will be able to combine powers to carry out more devastating attacks.
Waiting for more miasma
I’ve enjoyed what little I’ve seen of Miasma Chronicles so far. I would venture to say that It can be a very good entry point for newcomers to real-time strategy games. As happened with Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, it has a very well balanced difficulty curve, and optimal controls so as not to tear your hair out with each fight (yes, there are games where if you fail in a move you’re dead, and you I’m looking at you Jagged). The worst part of all this is that we will have to wait a bit, since until next year, we won’t be able to sink our teeth into it. Of course, plenty of time if we want to catch up and enjoy your previous project in advance.
