Michael Jackson’s involvement in the Sonic 3 soundtrack has been confirmed after years.
The rumor has been going around for years that the King of Pop Michael Jackson is said to have composed some songs for the Jump’N’Run Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
There have always been conflicting statements about this. SEGA itself had never confirmed the involvement and he was not named in the credits either.
With the release of the Sonic Origins game collection, which also includes the aforementioned Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Yuji Naka spoke up. The former head of Sonic Team worked on the game as a programmer at the time.
Naka was asked during Sonic Origins if there were any changes to the soundtrack. He replied, “Oh my god, the music for Sonic 3 has changed, even though Sega officially uses Michael Jackson’s music.”
With this, Naka has confirmed that Michael Jackson actually contributed songs to Sonic 3. In Sonic Origins, however, only new versions of these songs are used, as VGC writes.
