To give you an overview, early last month Microsoft acknowledged the notorious “PrintNightmare” bug, which specifically affects printers using the IPP class driver or the Universal print class driver. For this reason, the system is unable to recognize them; things can get so bad that you don’t have control over key features like color, duplexing, etc.
In fact, it wasn’t until last month that the company admitted it was its own mistake. This failure was added to the Americans’ roadmap and as a solution, they crippled new installations of Windows 11 version 22H2 for computers with a printer that met these requirements.
PrintNightmare error finally fixed
The good news is that since yesterday, users can use Windows Update to update without any issues. It looks like the error has been fixed and everything is working normally. In this way one of the biggest headaches is solved linked to the printer; although there are still others more active like the one affecting the remote printer.
Since windows help centeryou can already read the following reassuring message.
Any printers still affected by this issue should now be fixed automatically when upgrading to Windows 11, version 22H2.
We still have some teams unable to update due to graphics card and game performance issues. Of course, this is not the only serious issue the system is suffering from, there are others that are a headache for those in Redmond.
