Microsoft and Nintendo sign agreement for Call of Duty

Microsoft has signed a ten-year agreement to bring Call of Duty to the Nintendo platform.

Microsoft has sufficiently signaled its readiness for a binding agreement to release Call of Duty on other platforms, even if the shooter series belongs to the Windows group after the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

Nintendo has now signed an agreement that the competitor Sony is apparently not good enough for.

Brad Smith, Microsoft’s vice chair and president, announced today that they have signed a ten-year binding agreement. It envisages that Nintendo players will be able to play Call of Duty on the same day as Xbox and PlayStation players.

Call of Duty players on the Nintendo and PlayStation platforms will receive the same features and content as players on Xbox.

Microsoft said of the agreement:

“Microsoft and Nintendo have now negotiated and signed a binding 10-year agreement that will allow Nintendo players to play Call of Duty on the same day as Xbox players, with the same features and content as Xbox and PlayStation players .”

“We are committed to providing other gaming platforms with equal access to Call of Duty over the long term, to give more players more choice and to increase competition in the gaming market.”

The signature comes just in time for today’s hearing before the European Commission in Brussels. It is very likely that Microsoft and Sony will also meet there in person.
