Microsoft cites Sony in defense of Activision Blizzard acquisition

acquisition, Activision, Blizzard, cites, defense, Microsoft, Sony

In the final chapter of Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, there was a curious twist. There was a US Federal Trade Commission lawsuit against Microsoft and those in Redmond, to defend themselves, sent a subpoena to Sony.

Such a subpoena would potentially force Sony to disclose business details that are normally confidential.. According to Chronicle of video games, the summons was filed on January 17. The original response date was scheduled for January 20, but has been extended to January 27.

Sony must respond to the subpoena by the deadline. This may take the form of disclosing your contact details or attempting to limit or override your response.

“Negotiations between SIE and Microsoft regarding the scope of SIE production and a discovery schedule are ongoing,” the filing says, according to VGC.

This is a curious move by Microsoft, bringing its main competitor to the helm. From the Xbox area, we hope that this movement will shed some light on the subject and materialize upon acquisition.
