As Activision’s takeover soap opera Blizzard King continues its course, the world of Xbox Game Studios continues to roll and Microsoft has never stopped to keep moving. In nothing, we will have Redfall and later Starfield news.
But today we are not talking about games already announced, but about two classic brands registered by those of Redmond related to casual games. Never better said.
Microsoft Jewel and Casual Games are back
The first is the one corresponding to the classic Microsoft Jewel, the jewels that must fit together are one of the company’s classic proposals that they gave more income to the Americans. This classic game that I still remember playing on the already dead Microsoft Messenger. Later, Microsoft would exploit it in Windows 8, 10 and 11, arriving pre-installed in all installations.
The trademark has now been registered with the United States patent office on April 14th, and what I found most curious was that it was registered as a “new trademark application” instead of renewing the existing one. This means that it is very possible that the company has more ambitious plans for it and has needed to expand the typologies for which it is registered.
The second is also known, it is the label “Microsoft Casual Games”, which is a division within the company for family or casual games, whatever you want to call them. This label has its own website, you can play the games from the browser, and includes Jewel 2 itself.
Moreover, recently and nothing brought casual games to Microsoft Teams, renaming this area Games for Work. As with the previous trademark, this is a new application filed on April 20, which also suggests that they have other kinds of plans for it.
