The idea germinated over time and we all knew it would eventually come to fruition. Microsoft’s pricing positioning on its devices, and particularly on its main subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, is set to evolve, and not in the right direction for your wallet.
Microsoft and its consoles
This is the US site The edgea benchmark for technology, information and media news, releasing the information following a press release by Kari Perez, communications director at Xbox.
We have maintained our console prices for many years and have adjusted prices to reflect the competitive conditions in each market.
Kari Perez c/o The Verge
If Microsoft will raise Xbox Series X prices in August in most countries except the US, Japan, Chile, Brazil and Colombia, The Redmond-based company will also be increasing the monthly prices of its Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions for the first time next month. The Xbox Series S will obviously not be affected.
To match the price hike that buyers are seeing with direct competitor Sony on the PS5, Microsoft will offer its Xbox Series X console for $549.99 versus $499.99 currently in most European markets.
What about Xbox Game Pass?
For Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Game Pass for Console, the increase begins on July 6th. Should the basic subscription result in an additional euro per month due to the change to 10.99 dollars, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will rise to $12.99-$14.99/month for players who want to take advantage of all the options on offer
If your current subscription runs for several months or a year, These new rates will not come into effect until your subscription is terminated or if you want to expand it once the new prices are active. However, if you want to take advantage of current prices to maximize your subscription or upgrade to a higher tier, now is the time!
