This news surely appeals to many, because luckily Redfall has not been short of fans. I do not consider myself one of them, because in my analysis I had to admit that despite the fact that I had fun with it, it had many inadmissible basic errors. However, this started to be fixed with the massive 1.1 patch, which greatly stabilizes console and PC gameplay, improves the AI and fixes dozens of issues, although still expecting 60fps on Xbox Series X | S.
And that’s another topic that Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, talked about in his interesting interview with Axiosin which he confesses that the game did well on Xbox Game Pass, saying it was indeed a failure, but he feels the game still has a lot to give and will support Arkane Austin’s team to bring the game they really had in mind.
Arkane Austin stays
There was a lot of talk about Arkane Austin’s internal issues, including that some employees wanted Redfall canceled. It’s not something that’s been denied and in fact Matt himself confessed that the blame for the disaster during the launch was partly his, as Phil Spencer has also admitted. But it’s good news to know, because when asked if Arkane Austin will continue to work after this unfortunate event, his answer was:
That’s the plan right now (keep working). They are hard at work on these updates and recurring Redfall content.
The study itself was much more cautious and turned off all its communication taps until the hurricane passed. Just this week, with the release of the update, they were resurrected (a very fitting term for Redfall), even streaming on the official Bethesda Twitch channel where the creative director spoke and a level architect on the title and thanks to the fans who supported them. We sincerely hope that the title revives the interest of the public, adds content and who knows, maybe we are facing the new “Sea of Thieves” from Bethesda. They owe us two more characters in DLC form, that’s for sure.
