Once the deal between Activision Blizzard and Microsoft is finalized, Microsoft is likely to buy Japanese publishers and smaller studios.
Microsoft is still looking for new studios to expand the portfolio for its own gaming area. The Redmond company makes no secret of the fact that it is targeting large Japanese publishers and Japanese studios that are to be taken over. But so far no Japanese koi carp has been caught, although it is suspected that Microsoft already has a few companies on its hook.
Phil Spencer and Satya Nadella have repeatedly made it clear that they’re far from done buying up studios and publishers to feed the Game Pass machinery. Jeff Grubb and his co-host Imran Khan have now said that after the Activision-Blizzard deal is completed, Microsoft may buy up Japanese publishers and, for the time being, smaller studios from Japan.
