Microsoft has made a clear statement to Sony and PlayStation regarding Call of Duty and Activision Blizzard games.
Many PlayStation fans are wondering whether Microsoft will continue to make popular content like Activision’s Call of Duty available on competing platforms like Sony’s PlayStation.
The obvious fear of PS fans is that Microsoft could make these globally popular games exclusive and only available on the Xbox console, severely limiting the options for Sony PlayStation users.
However, PlayStation fans’ concerns appear to be unfounded as Microsoft has announced that future Activision Blizzard games will continue to be released for the PlayStation console(s). Microsoft will honor existing contracts and has also promised Sony that Call of Duty games will continue to be released for Sony consoles.
Microsoft would like to do the same for Nintendo and with the extremely successful Switch console. Microsoft believes this is the right move for the gaming industry, players and business.
Microsoft officially announces: “We also recognize that regulators may ask other important questions as they review the Activision Blizzard acquisition. We aim to answer all potential questions, and we would like to start by publicly addressing two such questions here.”
“To be clear, Microsoft will continue to make Call of Duty and other popular Activision Blizzard titles available on PlayStation for as long as the existing agreement with Activision lasts. And we have made a commitment to Sony that we will continue to make these titles available on PlayStation beyond the existing agreement and into the future so that Sony fans can continue to enjoy the games they love.”
“We are also interested in taking similar steps to support Nintendo’s successful platform. We believe this is the right thing for the industry, for the players and for our business.”
