MIO: Memories in Orbit, a Metroidvania scheduled for 2025, was revealed at the Nintendo Direct.
After their first indie game Shady Part of Me, a poetic and moving story that received critical acclaim, Focus Entertainment and Douze Dixièmes are delighted to continue their collaboration with MIO: Memories in Orbit, a new SF odyssey that combines Metroidvania with unique art direction.
In the role of the robot MIO, players explore and conquer the Ark, a gigantic, labyrinth-like spaceship, to save it from extinction.
The first trailer, revealed exclusively at the last Nintendo Direct, shows intense and varied gameplay that immerses players in a hypnotic, decadent world with stunning landscapes.
“The Focus teams are delighted to be working again with an internal studio: Douze Dixièmes,” says John Bert, Managing Director of Focus Entertainment Publishing.
“Its talented development team continues to demonstrate new ingenuity and an unparalleled artistic style that already delighted us with Shady Part of Me and will also shine in this Metroidvania with its unique atmosphere. We look forward to revealing more about MIO and its world and seeing how players immerse themselves in this wonderful experience.”
“As a partner studio of Focus Entertainment, we are very excited about this new collaboration,” says the Douze Dixièmes team.
“As a publisher, they are always there to support our ideas and help us evolve the Metroidvania formula. After several years of development, we are very proud of what MIO: Memories in Orbit has to offer the genre and this first trailer is proof of that. We look forward to showing our players even more in the coming months.”
MIO: Memories in Orbit will be released in 2025 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.
More information about the game and its gameplay will be announced in the coming months. Wishlists are available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
