The president of Square Enix is hoping for more games from the back catalog for the Xbox.
Square Enix President Takashi Kiryu has published a New Year’s letter to mark the New Year.
In addition to various topics such as artificial intelligence, he talked about maximizing sales for new titles, but also those of the back catalog.
The aim is to make the rich portfolio accessible to more customers, they say. This is intended to increase the fan base, which will undoubtedly also include the Xbox as a platform.
Due to exclusive deals with other platforms, many Square Enix games have so far been denied to Xbox consumers.
Excerpt from the letter: “On the publishing side, which includes our sales and marketing functions, we are working to enable greater global collaboration and promote the transition to digitalization.”
“By sharing information within our group about the specifics of different geographic markets and the best ways to address them, we are strengthening our publishing capabilities worldwide.”
“We see this as an effective means to not only maximize sales of new titles, but also to make our rich catalog accessible to more customers, thereby increasing the fan base for our group’s intellectual properties.”
So in the future, Xbox players could see more games from Square Enix on the platform. Just last year, the partnership between the two companies was renewed, including Final Fantasy XIV being announced for 2024 on Xbox.
