Before the release of Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong in about two months, there are more detials and screenshots.
With the release of the narrative RPG Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong in about two months, NACON and Big Bad Wolf released a new gameplay video for the game yesterday, as we already reported.
In the video, fans will learn more about the unprecedented crisis plaguing Boston’s vampire society and get a glimpse of the beginning of this situation.
Now more details have been published, which are accompanied by some screenshots:
Mysterious assassins have attacked the Boston Camarilla – a secret society that includes most of the city’s vampires. Galeb Bazory, Emem Louis and Leysha are tasked by Hazel Iversen with finding out the identity of the attackers and the motives behind the all-out attack.
The mission is simple: infiltrate, investigate, and find answers, using supernatural powers if necessary.
In true detective fashion, fans will visit various locations in search of valuable clues, solve puzzles, and interact with a variety of characters to progress through the game.
But just like narrative RPGs, a genre explored by Big Bad Wolf in The Council, Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong offers a variety of gameplay mechanics.
Each of the three heroes has a character sheet that can be fully customized. It is possible to be an expert at speech and persuasion and to dominate others, or develop your technical skills to pick computers and locks.
The heroes also have their own vampire powers: the disciplines. For example, Leysha can use Blackout to hide her presence, Emem uses Speed to reach otherwise inaccessible locations, and Galeb makes others his puppet using Domination.
Some particularly shady NPCs trigger confrontations, battles in the form of dialogues in which fans must find the right arguments and use skills and disciplines to convince the other person to reveal their secrets.
However, the intensive use of vampiric powers also comes with a high price: the hunger for blood. When one of the heroes runs out of blood, the beast within takes control and directly affects the possibilities for action.
To prevent this, it is possible to ambush a human and feed on their blood. However, it is important that this action be done in secret to uphold the Masquerade, the vampire law that conceals the existence of the creatures of the night from humans.
The game also contains scripted action sequences in specific situations where it is essential to keep a clear head and make the right decisions despite the time pressure.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong is a narrative-driven, multi-story game in which certain choices permanently affect the fate of the heroes and the Boston vampire community.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong will be available in stores on May 19, 2022 for PC and consoles.
