With the Indie Box, the entire XboxSquad editorial team offers you mini reviews of very little known or featured indie games. While some don’t deserve to step out of the shadows of the Xbox Marketplace, others might be worth a look. That is the whole subject of this section.
A sort of 2D Souls-like game that technically could have shone if released during the 16-bit generation. Boss Rush: Mythology is about embodying a mysterious knight, “exploring” several universes in order to defeat mythical beings. And explore is a big word, as each portal takes you straight to one of these monsters.
These come from Greek, Scandinavian, Slavic and Egyptian mythology and feature unique patterns that you must master every time in order to defeat them. For each victory you will be rewarded with hard currency, which you can use to buy new powers and weapons
The game quickly turns out to be hardcore as our hero is clumsy at will. But once new weapons are in hand, things get better. If the proposal is not uninteresting, the implementation leaves a lot to be desired. If you are not looking for 1000G fast then go ahead.
I loved :
- A Souls-like genre in 2D
- 1000G in less than 30 minutes
I’m sorry :
- Painful maneuverability
- Very short lifespan
