The excitement for the new Mortal Kombat 1 became palpable at Comic-con 2023 which took place yesterday. As expected, NetherRealms Studios wasn’t going to drop a huge variety of announcements for today, but nothing like what was shown, because that was enough and very good.
The main announcement was a new narrative trailer where we were introduced to the Umgadi as a clan in the Mortal Kombat universe. Inhabitants of Outworld, their goal of survival is led by what appears to be a princess named Li Mei. This character has appeared in other games in the franchise before, but this seems to be the first time he’s played such a big role. But not only was she featured, as Tanya and Baraka will also be coming to the game.
Many classic characters return to Mortal Kombat 1
It’s curious how in Mortal Kombat 1 classic characters that we didn’t have as fighters have been reinstated for a long time. Baraka is a regular, so we’re not that excited. But Tanya and Li Mei are 2 fighters who made their first appearance in Mortal Kombat 4 and Deception.
In addition to these characters, we also had Goro and Darrius as cameos. It looks like Mortal Kombat 1 is going to be one of the biggest roasting games we’ve ever had, which is pretty positive. He expects, of course, that most of them are not paid.
