According to CD Projekt, the next-gen upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt isn’t in developer hell and hasn’t been “monumenally” postponed.
Michał Nowakowski is Senior Vice President of Business Development at CD Projekt RED. In the current financial report, he commented on the news about the next-gen upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
More precisely, it is about the indefinite postponement of the upgrade for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, which we also reported on.
According to Nowakowski, there is no “monumental” shift and the upgrade is not in a hell of a state. However, since the upgrade is now being completed internally at CD Projekt RED, it takes time to get an overview of the status.
“I’ve been looking at the headlines that have popped up here and there around the internet and I’ve seen one that caught my attention which is ‘Witcher 3 Next-Gen Indefinitely Delayed’ which sounds like it will the game is in some kind of development hell. I would like to emphasize that this is not the case. There were a lot of hints that we’re going to release it in June next year or something like that. That is absolutely not the case.”
“All we’re saying is that we took the development of the game in-house. The game will be completed internally. We judge our time, that requires a little research – that’s all we say. Nobody says the game will be delayed [und] that we have a monumental period of time ahead of us. That’s all I can say about Witcher Next-Gen, but I really want to emphasize that fact.”
