Over the years we’ve seen a lot of Xbox gamers on console, PC and Game Pass No man’s skyYou immerse yourself in the universe and lose yourself in everything there is to do, sometimes for hundreds of hours.
Today we are announcing our latest No man’s sky Expedition, Omega, and this time we invite the entire Xbox community, regardless of whether they own the game or not, to try it out for themselves. The Expedition runs for two weeks starting today (Thursday, February 15th) and is free to play the first weekend until Monday, February 19th.
Whether it’s crafting, building, trading, fighting, exploring, or a variety of other activities, there’s so much to do No man’s sky. That’s why we developed Omega specifically to show new players in particular everything there is to see. It’s like a quick sightseeing tour of the universe.
No man’s sky Expeditions offer the entire community the opportunity to come together in one area of the universe and work together to overcome challenges and unlock exclusive rewards, keeping space and planets always full and bustling with activity. In addition, experienced travel veterans are always on hand to provide you with friendly advice and support.
Omega is our 12th expedition and the rewards on offer are probably the greatest ever. The main protagonist is the Starborn Runner, an exclusive spaceship that will be just as sought after as the Golden Vector. A range of unique customizations – a stylish combination of Atlas helmet, jetpack and multi-tool staff – can be unlocked as souvenirs and taken back to your main storage as future proof that you were there for Omega.
For new players who haven’t purchased yet No man’s skyAny progress you make in the expedition will be retained if you ever decide to take the plunge.
We’ve also overhauled how Expeditions work and existing players can now choose which of their favorite starships from their fleet they want to take on their adventure. Expeditions can now be accessed directly from the Anomaly in addition to the main menu screen.
As most travelers know, a No man’s sky Expedition usually brings a variety of new additions and features and Omega is no exception. Since we challenged players to take on and defeat the ominous pirate dreadnought last year, we’ve felt a real desire to add this massive ship to their freighter fleet. If you turn off the Dreadnought now, you can keep it.
Additionally, as you explore the universe, you will encounter alien races who will give you contextual missions specific to the planet they live on. Completing these tasks will earn you rewards and a good reputation among the locals.
We’re excited to welcome a whole new group of players to the game, and I know our vibrant and positive community will welcome them with open arms. Stay in the anomaly long enough and you’re sure to meet a generous traveler who just wants to help you.
No man’s sky came out on Xbox in 2018 and came to Game Pass in 2020. Our Xbox community has grown immeasurably and our small team at Hello continues to enjoy delivering content like Omega. 2024 looks to be our biggest year yet.
Our journey continues.

Inspired by the adventure and imagination we love in classic science fiction, No Man’s Sky presents you with a galaxy to explore, filled with unique planets and lifeforms and constant danger and action. In No Man’s Sky, every star is the light of a distant sun, each is orbited by planets full of life, and you can go to any of them you want. Fly smoothly from space to planetary surfaces, with no loading screens and no limits. In this infinite, procedurally generated universe, you’ll discover places and creatures that no other player has seen before – and may never see again. Embark on an epic journey. At the center of the galaxy lies an irresistible pulse that lures you on a journey to learn the true nature of the cosmos. But in the face of hostile creatures and fierce pirates, you know that death has a price and that survival depends on the choices you make when upgrading your ship, weapon and suit. Find your own destiny. Your journey through No Man’s Sky is in your hands. Will you be a fighter who hunts down the weak and takes their riches or takes out pirates for their bounties? The power is yours as you upgrade your ship in terms of speed and weaponry. Or a dealer? Find rich resources on forgotten worlds and exploit them at the highest prices. Investing in more cargo space will reap huge benefits. Or maybe an explorer? Go beyond the known boundaries and discover places and things that no one has seen before. Upgrade your engines to jump even further and strengthen your suit to survive in toxic environments that would kill the unwary. Share your journey. The galaxy is a living, breathing place. Trade convoys travel between the stars, factions vie for territory, pirates prey on the unwary and the police are constantly on guard. All other players live in the same galaxy, and you can share your discoveries with them on a map that spans known space. Perhaps you will see the results of their actions as well as your own…
