The makers of Subnautica provide a few details about the upcoming Subnautica 2 in an update.
As the Subnautica team announced on the Unknown Worlds website, it was not lost on some that the publisher KRFATON had already made some information available online. Based on this information, we would now like to clarify a few things.
The update from the Subnautica team states that Early Access for Subnautica 2 is not scheduled for 2024. Accordingly, the release of the game is still a long time coming, but further details will follow later in the year.
The update also takes up the “Game-as-a-Service” statement and explains that they simply plan to provide the game with updates over many years, as they have already done with its predecessors. This could be compared with the early access model, only it is much more detailed.
In this context, the team also emphasizes that there will be neither season passes, battle passes, nor subscriptions.
Anyone who likes to play alone can also breathe a sigh of relief. Although a co-op mode will be available in the next Subnautica chapter, it will be optional as the game does not primarily focus on multiplayer options. You will be able to enjoy the upcoming Subnautica best in single player mode.
