That Grounded Team is officially on the home stretch towards full release on September 27th with their latest update to the game. The team is working hard to create the definitive game that a community of over 10 million players have helped shape over the past two years. While this 1.0 launch will be the game’s biggest update yet, the Home Stretch update brings some important new features for players to try out in the meantime.

First up is a big thing that many gamers have been waiting for: Shared Worlds. Shared Worlds allows players to save their worlds to the cloud, allowing friends to play that particular world even when the owner is offline. A player can simultaneously own three shared worlds and share up to 50 worlds. Default worlds that players currently have can be converted to shared worlds via the save/load menu.

In addition to these expanded ways to share the backyard with friends, players can also share their adventures with a new in-game friend as they can tame a mosquito as a pet. The little bugs that bump into players because they can will now do it for love. Pets’ helpfulness has also increased through the customization of their passive buffs and the ability to increase their health by equipping them with armor. Other player perks include updates to everyone’s favorite robot friend BURG.L, who has now accumulated enough chips to remember he can roll his treads to inspect the Oak Lab and complete his assistant duties.

Speaking of support, another new addition to the Home Stretch update is the kitchen. Meals can be crafted in the cooking pit instead of the oven, so players no longer have to feel weird about mushroom bricks spoiling their quesadillantlion. Cooking is also an early crafting unlock, allowing players to access food recipes early on in their Backyard exploration.

This isn’t the only change to crafting, however, as armor and weapon upgrades have also been revamped in response to community feedback. The new upgrade system introduces Fashion Nuggets and Tough Nuggets, material types that players can use to craft and upgrade armor and weapons, respectively. This change dramatically improves the early game experience for new and returning players.

Finally, after exhausting themselves with all the crafting and cooking, players can check out the new Rest Timelapse, which shows time passing in the garden while a player is sleeping.
